Why an Award May Be Corrected or Removed

How award corrections work when flight data or eligibility was inaccurate.

PILOT RESOURCE / GUIDE

Awards depend on valid eligibility

Delta Virtual may recognize achievements through automated systems or staff review. An award is intended to reflect activity that meets its applicable rules.

Under SOP v4.0, staff may correct or revoke an award when it was issued incorrectly or based on invalid, falsified, or ineligible flight data.

Examples of situations requiring review

  • An automated achievement was triggered by a duplicated or incorrect record.
  • A tour leg did not meet the published aircraft, route, or date requirement.
  • A PIREP used for eligibility was later rejected or corrected.
  • A technical error credited an award to the wrong pilot or event.

A correction does not automatically mean the pilot acted dishonestly. Technical faults and honest mistakes can happen; staff should review the evidence fairly.

If you disagree

  1. Ask what award requirement or flight record was involved.
  2. Gather relevant accepted PIREPs and screenshots of the published criteria.
  3. Explain your reasoning respectfully through the normal staff channel.
  4. If the matter is unresolved, follow the airline's established appeals path: DPO → COO → CEO → Ownership Team, skipping a level when that person is directly involved.

Never change or fabricate tracking data to justify an award. The goal is an accurate record, not a particular outcome.
