Choosing a Flight: Scheduled Routes and Charters
How published schedules, charters, and typical subfleets fit together.
Do I have to fly a published route?
No. Delta Virtual encourages pilots to use published schedules, but its normal policy is Any Route, Any Aircraft, Anytime. A charter is a pilot-created flight outside a published schedule.
Choosing an aircraft
On Delta Virtual, a schedule's Typical Subfleet is a suggestion. It does not mean that a specific aircraft or subfleet must be assigned to that flight. You can choose a different aircraft for normal operations.
Planning a charter
- Choose valid departure and destination airports supported by your simulator and the Delta Virtual system.
- Pick your preferred aircraft.
- Create or select the flight in the Crew Center or a supported ACARS workflow.
- Review the route and flight details before departure.
- Record and submit the flight using an approved ACARS client.
Direct and point-to-point routing is allowed. Use safe operational judgment and follow any requirements from the online ATC network you are using.
When do restrictions apply?
A particular tour, event, or competition can restrict aircraft, routing, order of legs, or timing. Always check that activity's published rules before starting.
