Delta Virtual Flight Rules at a Glance
The essential operational limits every Delta Virtual pilot should know.
The core rules
Delta Virtual's flying philosophy is Any Route, Any Aircraft, Anytime, with the following normal operating rules:
- Simulation rate: Maximum 4x acceleration.
- Landing rate: Maximum -900 FPM; -901 FPM or harder may be rejected after review.
- Refueling: No in-flight refueling or artificial fuel addition after departure.
- Speed below 10,000 feet MSL: Normally 250 KIAS or less, unless operational circumstances require otherwise.
- Routing: Scheduled flights, charters, direct, point-to-point, VFR, and planned routes are permitted.
- Aircraft: Typical Subfleet is guidance, not a mandatory aircraft assignment.
- Position: No slew, teleportation, or data manipulation to artificially advance a reported flight.
Special operations can be stricter
Tours, events, challenges, and competitions may have their own published aircraft, route, callsign, timing, or network requirements. Those rules apply to the specific activity.
Technical failures
Reasonable pauses and recovery from simulator or ACARS problems are allowed. If something unusual appears in your flight data, explain it in the PIREP comments and keep available evidence.
Diversions
Weather, ATC, airport closures, aircraft conditions, fuel, and similar operational reasons can justify a diversion. Add a brief note when you land somewhere other than the planned destination.
