Time Acceleration, Fuel, and Fair Flight Reporting

How the 4x simulation-rate limit works and why artificial fuel additions are prohibited.

PILOT RESOURCE / GUIDE

Simulation speed

For normal Delta Virtual operations, time acceleration is permitted up to 4x. That allows 1x, 2x, and up to 4x simulation speed; exceeding 4x falls outside the stated rule.

Some aircraft and ACARS clients can behave differently when the simulation rate changes. Confirm that your chosen client continues to capture usable flight data, and return to a normal rate before demanding phases of flight when necessary for safe control.

Fuel and position integrity

You must not artificially add fuel after departure, including using an in-flight refueling function to extend a flight beyond its intended range. Slew, teleportation, and position manipulation cannot be used to advance a submitted flight artificially.

The SOP also prohibits intentionally manipulating recorded position, altitude, speed, fuel, flight time, landing data, and events.

If a technical failure forces unusual recovery

A simulator crash or ACARS interruption is not the same as deliberate cheating. Reasonable recovery is permitted, but describe actions that might look abnormal in the tracking data.

For example, your PIREP comment might say:

Simulator crashed during cruise. Reloaded the saved flight near the last recorded position and resumed tracking. The data may show a temporary gap.

Before you file

  • Check that your highest simulation rate stayed at or below 4x.
  • Confirm no artificial fuel was added after departure.
  • Explain technical discontinuities honestly.
  • Keep evidence when a software defect could affect review.
