Using SimBrief for Flight Planning
Prepare an operational flight plan and understand when a route is optional.
What is SimBrief?
SimBrief is a flight-planning service many simulator pilots use to create routes, fuel plans, and operational flight plans (OFPs).
Basic workflow
- Open SimBrief and sign into your own account.
- Enter departure and destination airports.
- Select an aircraft profile and review the planned route and fuel.
- Generate the flight plan and load or enter it into your simulator using your aircraft's supported workflow.
- Start recording your Delta Virtual flight with an approved ACARS client.
Some flight-tracking clients or builds may support SimBrief import. Availability and exact steps depend on the app version.
Is a detailed airway route always required?
Not for an ordinary Delta Virtual PIREP. SOP v4.0 permits point-to-point, direct, VFR, and normally planned routes. Planning remains good practice, and a specific event or tour can require a particular route.
Online ATC
If flying on VATSIM or IVAO, follow that network's flight-plan and controller requirements.
