Returning From Leave: How to Reactivate Your Pilot Account
How to return to flying if your account was placed on Leave for inactivity.
Being on Leave does not mean your account was deleted
Under Delta Virtual SOP v4.0, an established pilot who goes more than 60 days without an accepted flight is placed on Leave. Inactivity alone does not cause account deletion, forced retirement, or a maximum leave deadline.
How to come back
- Sign in to your Delta Virtual account if your login still works.
- Check your profile and pilot status. You may not be able to start a normally credited flight while your account remains on Leave.
- Contact Pilot Operations or another official support channel and request reactivation.
- Include your pilot name or ID and explain that you want to return to active flying. Do not send your password.
- Wait for the account status to be confirmed, then select a flight and resume normal operations.
If you cannot sign in, contact staff through an official channel and explain the account-access problem. A Leave status and a password issue are separate matters.
What if another issue is involved?
Reactivation can require review when there is an unresolved disciplinary, account-security, or similar matter. Staff will explain the next step if that applies. A routine period of inactivity does not, by itself, justify permanent removal.
Once you're active again
To remain active, complete at least one accepted PIREP every 60 days. You can use the airline's normal schedule or charter options, subject to current operational rules.
